Another new clients for 2011 is Smile Brands Inc. As leaders in the dental industry, they will be exhibiting across the US at over 20 shows a year. Here are a few images of the new booth in the 10x20 configuration.The design allows multiple reconfigurations, allowing for either smaller or larger presence at targeted shows.

Here is a recent design completed for the California Avocado Commission. We incorporated high tech video conferencing, interactive touch screen displays and individual pod workstations.
AvoHQ is the global communication boardroom and the Nerve center for the Avocado Commission.

The Ultimate Retail Trade Show Display

Cogswell Design has introduced a new Retail Exhibit System (R.H.Y.S) for clients looking for ease of use, flexibility and cool styling at Domestic and International trade shows alike.

The modular display comes complete in one 8'high x 4'wide x 4'deep custom anvil case, which forms a storage cabinet on the booth during the show. With seven freestanding display panels that can be locked together in many configurations, a countertop workstation, interchangeable custom panels, an LCD monitor, two high chairs and clamp-on LED arm lights, the display takes two people just 60 minutes to set-up, and requires no union labor.

"The whole concept behind the R.H.Y.S. is stress-free exhibiting." says Cogswell, who engineered the exhibit from the ground up. "Clients need displays that are both functional and cool. This display never falls short of perfection !"
There's no more waiting for pallets or crates to turn up when show closes - the display is easily dismantled and packed away in less than 40 minutes. This will leave you in plenty of time to relax with a farewell drink with the team and not rushing frantically for that nightmare flight home.

Pricing - a standard design with custom case, two product cases (with tabletop conversions), workstation table, will retail between $20-25k. (options include HD monitors, LED arm lights and custom covers and graphics).

The displays take up to 3 weeks to construct from placing order and can be custom designed with your own company colors and graphics.

E3 2010 marked the third successive booth by Cogswell Design for Nyko Technologies. As the leading design and manufacturers of game peripherals, Nyko wanted to create a strong presence that would showcase it's latest designs for Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
A dominant 19' structure with 3D logos, digital print fabric, large scale video projection, lounge and four meeting spaces, the booth was a 360 degree moving billboard for Nyko's new products on the show floor.

New projects 2010

2010 Cogswell Design was awarded the contract to design and manage the European exhibit calendar for San Diego based, Gen-Probe Inc. The design was a modular booth that was to visit Monaco, Vienna, Barcelona, Florence, Dusseldorf, Paris and needed to be configured into as many different spacial layouts. The booth was a success and has created a brand architecture that will be synonymous with this award winning company.

ASIS 2009

ASIS International is the organization for security experts. At this years show in Anaheim, Cogswell Design created a stunning exhibit for its client National Payment Provider who wanted an exhibit that not only expressed its global presence in the field of security, but to also introduce the new division of Arixmar to the attendees.

A free flowing 30x30 island exhibit that through it's innovative design style, incorporated thematic vault details, a rotating 6' diameter globe, HD visual messaging and individual presentation zones, the exhibit drew the crowds.
Complete with a golf swing analysis section with Seth Glasco, professional instructor for the Jack Nicklaus Academy, book signings and guests such as Erik Estrada, the booth had a host of well planned events that drew attendees from all arenas.
The exhibit components built were fully modular giving the ability to be reconfigured to suit the numerous shows lined up for the 2010 calendar for NPP/Arixmar across the globe.

Comic Con 2009

It's been a while since I updated my blog. Work thankfully is busy and life couldn't be better. Over the past few months we completed some great projects.
The first one we'd like to show is that for The Ultra Productions, whose client NBC and Nissan wanted a strong and unified brand that captured the Comic Con attendees imagination.
For "The Ultra Productions", Cogswell Design Inc. created an oversized model car box to display the new Nissan Cube inside and used the outer packaging with comic graphic art, AV to present the upcoming series of Heroes.
With cheerleaders scanning badges for attendees to win the chance of a custom graphic wrapped Nissan Cube, each day, and the giveaways of Limited Edition comic books, the Comic Con visitors jammed the booth.
Watching the new Heroes trailer created for the show, testing out the Nissan Cubes cool interior, the exhibit was a show stopper.
Along with the exhibit in the hall, The Ultra Productions created a Carnival, with sideshows and acrobats,on the main lawn of the Hyatt across from the convention center, again based on the new Heroes series.

Jack Jones (1884-1970)

Jack Jones was an influential and outspoken Welsh writer, who left a legacy of novels and plays based on the South Wales Valleys. His works, now to be re-published, will further inspire new writers to delve deeper into their Welsh roots. Again, to see and feel, the passion of the culture and the people immersed in the rugged landscape of Wales.

Photographed by Geoff Charles. Jack Jones (1884-1970) was a native of Merthyr Tydfil. He began writing during the 1920s and published his first novel 'Black Parade' in 1935. This was soon followed by 'Rhondda Roundabout' (1934), 'Bidden to the Feast' (1938) and 'Off to Philadelphia in the Morning' (1947) among others. He published his autobiography in three parts, 'Unfinished Journey' (1937), 'Me and Mine' (1948) and 'Give me back my Heart' (1950). He also wrote three plays and a biography of David Lloyd George, 'The Man David' (1944).
Jack Jones was an author, a playwright, a political activist, a writer of comedies and musical plays, a bard at the Eisteddfod and my Great Grandfather.

Interactive Architecture

FLARE is a pneumatic building facade system. The FLARE system consists of a number of tiltable metal flake bodies. An infinite array of flakes can be mounted on any building or wall surface in a modular system of multiplied 4x4 FLARE units. Each stainless steel flake reflects the bright sky or sunlight when in vertical standby position. When the flake is tilted downwards by a computer controlled pneumatic piston, its face is shaded from the sky light and this way appears as a dark pixel. By reflecting ambient or direct sunlight the individual flakes of the FLARE system act like pixels formed by natural light. The system is controlled by a computer to form any kind of surface animation. Sensor systems inside and outside the building communicate the buildings activity directly to the FLARE system which acts as the buildings lateral line. FLARE turns the building facade into a penetrable membrane, breaking with all conventions of the building surface as a static skin.

Where it all began.....

In 1988 I graduated with an Honors Degree in Design Architecture from Nottingham Trent University, And over the next 20 years, I explored many avenues of design - interactive museums, exhibitions, furniture, retail to graphics to theme park rides. I learnt that "hands on" experience is priceless.

So this leads to the first of my blog images of some great friends and myself working on a themed environment for a theme park in Europe.

For those of you who know me, it should be easy to work out where I am in the photo, for those who don't.....I'm on the far left.
